What we do

Family Voice Peterborough is a Parent-Carer-led charity working to improve the lives of children and young people with SEND and the families who support them.

At the heart of our work is lived experience. We ensure that Parent Carers’ voices are not only heard but valued and embedded in how local services are designed, delivered, and reviewed.

We provide accessible information, signposting, and support to help families understand education, health, and social care processes.

By helping Parent Carers navigate often complex systems, we enable them to feel more confident, informed, and better equipped to advocate for their children.

Our focus is not only on supporting individual families, but on creating meaningful, lasting improvements for families across Peterborough.

Gathering Parent Carer voices

Listening to Parent Carers is central to everything we do.

We gather feedback, experiences, and insights through surveys, Listening activities, events, participation activities, and online engagement. This allows us to build a clear and informed picture of what life is really like for families locally.

All feedback is anonymised and used to represent the collective voice of Parent Carers in strategic conversations with local authority, health, and education partners.

Influencing services and decision making

We work collaboratively with our Local Authority, Health Services, Education Providers, and Partner Organisations to influence how services are shaped and improved.

By bringing real-life experiences into these discussions, we help ensure services are more responsive, inclusive, and effective for children and young people with SEND.

Our work is rooted in co-production, working alongside Parent Carers and professionals as equal partners and in strengthening parent participation so that families play a central role in shaping the services they rely on.

Community and participation

We create safe, welcoming spaces where families can connect, share experiences, and feel less isolated.

Through informal meet-ups, events, and engagement opportunities, we reduce isolation and build a strong community of support. These spaces also enable Parent Carers to contribute their views in ways that feel comfortable and accessible to them.

Everything we do is focused on long-term, sustainable change. By strengthening relationships between families and services, championing co-production, and amplifying lived experience, we work to create better outcomes for children, young people, and families across Peterborough.
